Limousis cave

Limousis cave is a limestone system featuring two underground lakes and abundant mineral deposits throughout its passages. The network spreads across multiple levels with varying chamber heights and open corridors.

Human occupation of this cave spanned from Neolithic times through the Middle Ages, confirmed by archaeological discoveries made in the 1930s. These findings reveal a long history of people using the underground space across different periods.

The main gallery, known as the Ball Room, served as a traditional celebration space for local residents until the 1950s with accordion music.

Access is provided through guided tours lasting roughly one hour, designed for various fitness levels. The paths and stairs inside are stable, allowing exploration without special equipment, though comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

The main chamber contains a massive aragonite crystal formation that developed naturally over thousands of years. This rare mineral structure is a highlight for visitors seeking to see this striking geological feature.
