Hasištejn Castle, Gothic castle ruin in Мисто, Czech Republic.
Hasištejn Castle is a stone fortification perched on a hillside with preserved towers and walls from the medieval period. The structure displays characteristic Gothic architectural features and medieval defensive design.
Friedrich of Schonburg established the fortress in the 13th century to protect the trade route from Prague toward Saxony. The property later passed to Vaclav IV of Luxembourg and subsequently to other noble families.
The castle takes its name from the Hasištejnský family who shaped its character for generations. Visitors can see spaces where scholarly collections were kept and where important figures of the time gathered.
The site is accessible from April through October and can be explored on foot along marked pathways. Wear comfortable shoes as the terrain includes sloped sections, and bring weather-appropriate clothing.
The Lobkowicz family regained ownership of their ancestral property in 1989 after decades of state control under communist rule. Markings and restored sections today reflect this period of reclamation and renewal.
