Ještěd is a mountain near Světlá pod Ještědem crowned by a distinctive television tower that houses a hotel and restaurant at its peak. The concrete and steel structure stands 1,012 meters (3,320 feet) high and serves as a prominent landmark visible across the region.
The mountain received its first lodging in 1844, which was destroyed by fire in 1963 and replaced by the current concrete structure completed in 1973. The tower was designated a national cultural monument in 2006 and added to Germany's UNESCO tentative list in 2007.
