Konopiště Castle, Gothic castle in Benešov, Czech Republic
The four-winged, three-story castle features round towers, a stone bridge entrance, and numerous exhibition halls displaying weaponry and hunting collections.
Originally constructed in 1294 as a Gothic fortress by Prague Bishop Tobiáš, the castle underwent multiple transformations before becoming Franz Ferdinand's residence in 1887.
The castle exhibits contain 3,750 items dedicated to Saint George and an extensive collection of medieval armors from the Obizzi-Este family.
Visitors can select from four guided tours in English that cover different sections, including the private apartments, south wing, armory, and trophy collections.
The castle houses the actual bullet that killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, an event that initiated World War I.
