Jenerálka

Jenerálka is a two-story château in Dejvice with neo-baroque styling, displaying symmetrical wings and ornate façades across its structure. The building now serves as an educational facility and shows the architectural language of early 20th-century transformation.

An 18th-century estate was transformed during the 1920s into a neo-baroque summer residence through major renovations. During World War II, the building served as a detention facility for children separated from their parents during a period of political persecution.

The château bears a name linked to a military figure from Czech history, and this connection shapes how locals understand the place. The name remains a reminder of the region's past and its connections to broader national stories.

The château is difficult to access because it functions as a school building on private grounds at Nad Habrovkou 3. Visitors typically can only view the exterior and surrounding grounds when access is permitted.

A noted Romantic painter made his home here until 1868 and contributed to the artistic importance of the location. This connection to the art world adds cultural depth to the site's history.
