Old Town Hall

The Old Town Hall is a Gothic structure at the main square featuring Renaissance and Neoclassical elements throughout. The tower rises approximately 63 meters (207 feet) with Renaissance arcades lining the inner courtyard.

This building dates from the 13th century and served as Brno's main administrative center for centuries. Officials moved to another location in the 1930s, after which it became a historical landmark.

The entrance portal displays the hand of Master Pilgram and reflects the skill of medieval stonemasons. Visitors can see this masterful craftsmanship today in the fine details carved into the stone.

A tourist information center operates on the ground floor, and exhibitions occupy the upper levels. Visitors planning to climb the tower should be prepared for a series of stairs to reach the viewing platform.

The tower features a deliberately twisted turret at its top, supposedly created by the master mason as a sign of anger over unpaid wages. This crooked shape remains visible today and tells a story of dispute between the craftsman and the city.
