Labyrinth under Vegetable Market, Brno, Medieval underground passages in Brno, Czech Republic
The underground complex extends almost one kilometer in length, containing interconnected corridors and cellars situated eight meters beneath the Vegetable Market square.
During the Middle Ages, merchants constructed these cellars to store food, wine, and beer, creating an essential preservation system for the growing city.
The labyrinth features an alchemist's laboratory exhibition, displaying the scientific achievements of Brno's doctors and researchers who gained recognition throughout Europe.
The site operates Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00, with guided tours departing every hour through 212 steps leading into the underground passages.
Visitors can examine replicas of medieval punishment devices, including a pillory and cage of fools that stood in the marketplace during the 17th century.
