Egerberk

Egerberk is a Gothic castle ruin situated on elevated terrain near Lestkov, displaying features of medieval defensive architecture. The structure retains traces of its original function as a fortified stronghold from this period.

The castle was first recorded in 1317 when it belonged to Wilhelm, a companion of John of Luxembourg. Over the following centuries, ownership passed between various Bohemian noble families, including the House of Šumburk and the House of Škopek.

The castle's name refers to the Ohře river that flows through the area and held importance for local communities. Visitors can still observe how the fortress was integrated into the landscape and shaped by this natural waterway.

The ruins are open year-round and sit on a hillside with free access from the surrounding area. The nearby town of Klášterec nad Ohří offers accommodation and visitor services for those exploring the site.

Despite its ruined state, Gothic architectural details remain visible that hint at the original elegance of the structure. These remnants show how carefully the fortress was once built to serve its defensive purpose.
