Krásný Dvůr Castle, Baroque château in Krásný Dvůr, Czech Republic.
Krásný Dvůr Castle is a Baroque château in the Czech Republic that blends Renaissance and Baroque architectural elements. Its interior contains decorated rooms, entrance galleries, and valuable artworks by Czech and European masters.
Count Hermann Czernin purchased the estate in the mid-1600s and rebuilt it as a Renaissance villa over the remains of a Gothic fortress. This major reconstruction established the foundation of the structure visible today.
The name Krásný Dvůr translates to Beautiful Courtyard, reflecting the elegant design of the estate. Inside, collections of porcelain, glass, and furnishings from different periods show Czech and European craftsmanship.
The castle is open from April through October, mainly on weekdays with a midday break. A guided tour is recommended to see the building and its collections thoroughly.
The park surrounding the estate contains a thousand-year-old oak tree, one of the oldest living monuments on the grounds. Several small structures like Pan's Temple and an Obelisk are scattered throughout the landscape.
