Buková hora, Mountain summit in North Bohemia, Czech Republic
Zinkenstein is a rocky summit in North Bohemia, located close to the Czech-German border and rising sharply above the surrounding forest. The rock has a rough, jagged surface with several distinct faces that are used for climbing.
The summit was given its German name Zinkenstein in the 19th century, during a period when this border area was administered by Austria. Its position on a territorial boundary shaped how the site was recorded and used over generations.
Zinkenstein is well known among climbers in the region, drawing people who come specifically to try the routes on its rock face. The range of difficulty levels makes it a place where beginners and experienced climbers visit on the same day.
The summit is reached by marked hiking trails that start from several points in the surrounding area. The nearby village of Zubrnice offers parking and is a convenient starting point for the approach.
Zinkenstein has 13 documented climbing routes, including two sectors named Schnakenperiode and Hammerroute that are known for their technical demands. These routes were established over decades by the local climbing community and are still in active use.
