Adršpach

Adršpach is a Gothic castle ruin located on a hilltop in the Náchod region that preserves stone walls and a rock cellar to this day. The remains offer insight into how medieval border fortifications were constructed and organized.

The first written record dates to 1348, though construction began in the 13th century to secure Bohemia's border forests. A century later it was destroyed by neighboring towns who viewed it as a threat used by raiders.

The ruins display features of medieval defensive design that reflect how such structures once protected the border region. Visitors walking through can observe the stone construction methods and spatial layout that reveal the everyday military needs of that era.

The ruin is accessible via marked pathways that wind through hilly terrain west of Broumov in the Náchod district. Visitors should prepare for uneven ground and steep sections, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

In the 15th century several Silesian towns jointly purchased and demolished this fortress to remove it as a base for raiders. This unusual collective action reveals how vital the site had become for attacks in the region.
