Hořovice Castle, Neoclassical château in Hořovice, Czech Republic.
The castle consists of two distinct sections: the Old Castle from the 14th century and the New Castle with its refined architectural elements.
Frederick William supervised a substantial reconstruction of the New Castle during the first half of the 19th century, following designs by architect Gottlob Engelhardt.
The castle courtyard displays sculptures by Matthias Braun, while the Old Castle section contains the Municipal Library and Museum of the Bohemian Karst.
The New Castle section remains open for public tours, with visitor numbers reaching 24,072 people in 2019 before stabilizing around 11,000 annually.
The Princes of Hanau, descendants of Friedrich Wilhelm I of Hesse through his marriage to Gertrude Lehmann, resided here from 1867 until 1945.
