Bruntál Castle is a baroque manor house in the city of Bruntál with multiple wings and symmetrical layout. The rooms are furnished with pieces from different periods and the outer walls display decorative details.
The building began in the 13th century as a gothic fortress to defend the area. In the 18th century it was completely rebuilt into the baroque manor house you see today.
The castle displays how nobles lived and entertained in this region. The objects on show tell you about the habits and tastes of its former owners.
You can see the interior on guided tours that run Tuesday through Sunday. Opening hours are longer during the warmer months, especially from April to October.
Inside there is a whole room filled with hunting trophies that shows how much the former owners enjoyed the hunt. This collection gives an unusual look at the hobbies of the nobility from that time.
