Malenovice Castle

Malenovice Castle is a stone fortification set on elevated terrain with thick walls and defensive towers rising above the surrounding landscape. The buildings encircle a central courtyard and display construction styles from different periods, built up and modified over many generations.

The castle was built in the second half of the 14th century to control and protect important trade routes passing through Moravia at that time. Its construction shaped the region's development, and it became the seat of ruling families who exercised authority over the area through this strategic location.

The castle served as a regional hub of power and trade for centuries, shaping how the surrounding community developed and grew. Local people today still connect this place to their family stories and how their region came to be.

The castle is open to visitors from April through October, with guided tours available in Czech and English at regular times. Wear sturdy shoes as the stone pathways and stairs can become slippery when wet.

Inside the castle stands a preserved medieval kitchen featuring original stone furnishings and cooking equipment that survived centuries of use. This room offers a rare glimpse into how people actually lived and cooked within these fortress walls.
