Střílky Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Střílky, Czech Republic
Střílky Castle is a ruin on Hrad hill that contains fragments of the core structure, a round tower base, protective ramparts, and deep defensive ditches. The site shows typical medieval fortification elements across multiple structural layers.
The castle was founded around 1300 and belonged to Henry of Lipá in 1321, with a chapel added in 1486. It was abandoned in 1542 and gradually declined afterward.
The ruins represent medieval defensive architecture recognized as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. They reflect the building traditions of the region and its past importance as a fortified settlement.
The site sits at 552 meters elevation southwest of Kroměříž near route E50. Access is via local paths, and the area offers hiking trails through hilly countryside.
The stronghold transformed from a Gothic fortress into complete abandonment within three centuries. Today only scattered structural remnants remain, telling the story of this rapid transformation.
