Burg Zbiroh, Rock castle in Malá Skála, Czech Republic.
The remains of Burg Zbiroh rise on a rock formation above the Jizera River at an elevation of 452 meters near Turnov.
The castle, constructed in the early 14th century under King Wenceslaus IV, served as a base for Marquardt von Wartenberg until royal forces captured it in 1388.
Burg Zbiroh represents Gothic architecture and maintains protected status as a cultural monument, preserving medieval defensive construction techniques in the Český ráj region.
Visitors can explore the outer walls, carved rooms, and water cistern while hiking through the surrounding natural landscape of the Český ráj area.
The castle transformed from a noble residence to a bandit stronghold before its destruction in 1442, after which official records described it as completely abandoned by 1448.
