Brno House of Arts, Contemporary art museum in Malinovského náměstí, Brno, Czech Republic

The Brno House of Arts occupies a three-storey building on Malinovského Square, built in 1908–1911 to Heinrich Karl Ried's design with a semicylindrical two-storey porch and a central gable. Bohuslav Fuchs rebuilt it in 1946–1947 in the Brno Functionalist style, stripping the historicist facade; Petr Hrůša and Markéta Hrůšová renovated it in 2008–2009.

The Moravian Art Association built the Kaiser-Franz-Josephs-Jubiläums-Künstlerhaus to designs by Heinrich Karl Ried; it opened on 25 March 1911 with an exhibition of German-Moravian artists. Damaged by Allied bombing in 1944–45, it was rebuilt in 1946–47 under Bohuslav Fuchs in the Brno Functionalist style, losing its historicist shell. Further reconstruction followed in 2008–09 by Petr Hrůša and Markéta Hrůšová.

The House of Arts serves as a meeting point where artists and visitors encounter contemporary works and design together. Exhibitions present works from artists in the region and from elsewhere.

The museum sits in a central location near other architectural landmarks and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should check opening times in advance as schedules can vary.

One gallery space in the complex focuses on emerging artists and gives them a platform for early exhibitions. This focus sets it apart from many other museums in the city.
