Velký Lopeník, Mountain summit in White Carpathians, Slovakia.
Velký Lopeník is a mountain peak in the White Carpathians that stands at 911 meters and marks the border between Slovakia and the Czech Republic. A wooden observation tower sits on the summit and provides access to panoramic views from the top.
An observation tower was first built on the summit in 1944, with several structures replacing each other over the following decades. The current wooden tower, standing 22 meters high, was constructed in 2005 as a symbol of friendship between the two neighboring countries.
The farmsteads and fields around the base shape how people live and work in this border region today. Local residents maintain connections to the land through agriculture and pastoral traditions.
The path to the summit uses stairs for easier climbing and takes only a few minutes to complete from the tower base. The climb is manageable for most visitors and the route remains clear and well-marked throughout.
On clear days, the platform reveals views stretching to multiple distant mountain ranges like Mala Fatra and the Beskydy Mountains. The vantage point lets you see how many different highland areas surround this border region.
