Köglerova naučná stezka, Educational trail in Krásná Lípa, Czech Republic.
Köglerova naučná stezka is an educational trail featuring around 40 stations spread through quarries, rock formations, and woodland near Czech Switzerland National Park. The route passes through varied terrain that displays the geological diversity of the area.
Rudolf Kögler created this trail in 1941 as the first nature-based educational path in the Czech Republic. After World War II it was abandoned, but it was restored and reopened in 2006 for public use.
The path passes by small chapels and stone crosses that are part of the local landscape. At various points, visitors learn about how the geology shaped the region and what plants grow naturally here.
Visitors can collect trail maps from the information center in Krásná Lípa town square and break the walk into smaller sections to suit their pace. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to read the information at each station.
Kögler created a large geological relief map in 1937 covering 50 square meters that shows the regional rock formations in three dimensions. This map remains on display at the site and helps visitors understand the landscape structure.
