Blatná Chateau, Renaissance water castle in South Bohemia, Czech Republic
The castle stands on an island surrounded by a pond, featuring a white and red entrance tower with Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements.
The castle gained importance in the 15th century when Johanka of Rožmitál, who lived there, became the wife of Czech King Jiří of Poděbrady.
Master builder Benedict Rejt transformed the old palace into a three-floor structure, combining Gothic and Renaissance styles that influenced regional architecture.
The castle opens daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering guided tours that include access to historical rooms and the English park grounds.
The castle grounds include alpaca tours, where visitors can meet and feed these South American animals in a European castle setting.
