Zámek Boskovice

Zámek Boskovice is an Empire-style château positioned on a hillside at the southern edge of town, featuring a large main hall that spans two floors and displays Dutch paintings. The building is surrounded by French-English style gardens and contains an extensive library with numerous historical volumes.

The château was built in 1819 by Franz Joseph von Dietrichstein on the site of a former Dominican monastery that had been closed during the Josephine reforms. The new construction rose from the foundations of the earlier religious building, marking a transformation of the location.

The château displays period furnishings and artworks that show how aristocratic families lived and what they valued. Visitors can see personal objects and decorations that reflect the tastes of those who occupied these rooms.

The location is accessible to visitors and offers guided tours through the main rooms and gardens. Comfortable shoes are recommended since the hillside setting and garden grounds require some walking.

Inside the château sits a copper celestial globe that displays stars through heraldic symbols, representing a rare form of astronomical art. The estate also houses a Rococo children's theater that arrived as a gift from Queen Victoria.
