Měšice Castle

Měšice Castle is a château with a white exterior and neoclassical staircases located near Tábor. The interior holds multiple exhibition halls filled with historical furniture and collections, along with working water toilets from the 18th century.

The building started as a Renaissance manor house in 1545 for knight Prokop of Hejlovec. About a century later, Count Caretto transformed it into a Baroque château.

The rooms hold exhibits about political leaders and moments from recent European history that visitors can encounter firsthand. These displays reveal how the space has become a place of remembrance for significant 20th-century events.

The castle is open for guided tours through its exhibition rooms and collections. Visitors should be prepared for stairs, as the interior spans multiple levels.

The castle still preserves its original water toilets from 1792, an example of early plumbing technology in Central Europe. This installation was more advanced than typical for its time.
