Vizovice Castle, Baroque château in Vizovice, Czech Republic.
Vizovice Castle is a French-style château displaying Baroque, Rococo, Empire, and Biedermeier elements across its decorated interior spaces and grand halls. It houses an extensive collection of 16th to 19th-century paintings by Dutch and Czech masters, along with valuable porcelain and oriental objects.
The château was built between 1749 and 1770 by architect František Antonín Grimm for Count Hermann Hannibal of Blümegen, replacing an earlier Renaissance structure. This construction was part of a broader modernization effort reflecting French architectural ideals of the period.
The chapel houses original sculptures by Moravian artist Ondřej Schweigl, whose works also appear throughout the French-style garden. This artistic collaboration shaped the visual character of the entire estate.
The site is open to visitors and offers guided tours through the interior spaces, with parking facilities and refreshments available on-site. Families with children and pets will find good conditions for their visit.
The castle was initially designed as a residential building but later received a functioning chapel that became central to its spatial composition. This addition fundamentally altered how the property functioned as an ensemble.
