Zelená Hora

Zelená Hora is a château in the village of Klášter displaying Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural features. The southern wing extends for a considerable distance and reveals three floors, with the uppermost level added during the 19th century.

The earliest written record of this location dates to 1221, documenting its early significance in the region. A fortification rose on the site in the middle of the 15th century when Hynek Krusina of Svamberk commissioned its construction.

The name Zelená Hora means green hill, referring to the wooded elevation where the structure stands. Inside, the Libuse hall still features its original ornamental ceiling paintings that visitors can see today.

The site currently has limited accessibility due to ongoing renovation work, so visitors should check conditions beforehand. Access is through the village of Klášter in the Bohemian countryside, where the structure becomes visible on its wooded hilltop setting.

The grounds contain a church dating to 1688 dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, which forms part of the visual landscape. The property has served multiple times as a filming location for various productions, carrying cinema and cultural history within its walls.
