Počátky

Počátky is a municipality in Pelhřimov District situated at an elevation of about 620 meters (2,030 feet), straddling the historic boundary between the Bohemian and Moravian regions. The town functions as a local administrative and service center with a population of around 2,500 residents.

The settlement was founded in 1289 as a market village and later became significant through the marriage of Vlastimil of Švábenice to Perchta of Kralovany. This alliance shaped the town's importance and its role in regional affairs for centuries to come.

The town museum, founded in 1892, displays regional artifacts and ethnographic collections that reflect how people lived in earlier times. Visitors can explore the craftsmanship and everyday objects that shaped the daily routines of past generations.
