Kunštátská kaple

Kunštátská kaple is a Baroque chapel with a distinctive conical thatched roof that stands at about 1035 meters on the main ridge of the Eagle Mountains. Its circular structure sits at the junction of four cadastral territories and rises above the surrounding forest landscape.

The chapel was built between 1670 and 1671 to serve Tyrolean workers who labored in the surrounding forests for mining and glassworks operations. These workers needed a place of worship in their remote mountain workplace.

The chapel is dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and carries deep meaning for local communities and pilgrims. People still gather here to attend ceremonies and mark important religious occasions throughout the year.

Visitors should wear sturdy hiking boots and be prepared for mountain weather since the chapel sits at a high elevation on an exposed ridge. Access is primarily by foot or all-terrain vehicles on mountain trails, so plan extra time for the climb and varying conditions.

A protected peat bog near the chapel supports numerous rare plant species and adds significant natural value to the location. This ecosystem and the remote setting make it a special destination for nature observers and hikers interested in mountain flora.
