Doosan Arena, multi-purpose stadium in Plzeň, Czech Republic
Doosan Arena is a football stadium located in eastern Plzeň with seating for around 11,700 spectators and a modern enclosed structure. The pitch is surrounded by functional stands that provide good views from most seats, with large video screens mounted on the northern and southern stands.
The stadium opened in 1955 as a venue for local sports and initially held up to 35,000 spectators. Renovations in 2002 reduced capacity to 7,400 for safety upgrades, while a major modernization in 2011 brought capacity close to 12,000 with improved facilities and comfort standards.
The stadium is named after Emil Štrunc, a local sports leader from the Sokol Movement, whose name identifies the park where it stands. On match days, fans gather in team colors and create a strong sense of community support and shared enthusiasm around the venue.
The stadium is easily accessible by public transport with bus stops nearby and adequate parking available, though spaces fill quickly on match days. Walking access is straightforward and staff are helpful during events, making the experience comfortable for all visitors.
In 2016, corner towers were added to the northern and southern ends of the stadium, housing a restaurant called Klubovka and accommodation for the local football academy. LED screens installed in 2018 further enhanced the viewing experience for spectators.
