Hluboká Castle, Gothic Revival castle in Hluboká nad Vltavou, Czech Republic
Hluboká Castle is a white fortress with multiple towers rising above an English-style park in South Bohemia. The building combines medieval foundations with Gothic Revival elements that were added during the 19th century.
The fortress was founded in the early 13th century and was owned by local noble families for several centuries. In the 19th century, the Schwarzenbergs took over the building and completely transformed its appearance with Gothic Revival work.
The rooms here display collections that belonged to the Schwarzenberg family, including tapestries, weapons, and furniture from different periods. These objects tell stories about how the nobility lived and connected with the rest of Europe.
Visitors can explore the interior of the residence through guided tours offered in multiple languages, showcasing the state rooms and private apartments. The castle is located near the Vltava River and can be reached by car or public transportation.
The owner visited England and had the building redesigned to resemble Windsor Castle, a royal palace near London. This unusual choice gave the fortress its distinctive white exterior and recognizable silhouette.
