Brno Mosque is a prayer house in Štýřice with a simple rectangular design that lacks traditional minarets or domes. Its interior is functionally arranged to accommodate roughly one hundred worshippers.
The building opened in 1998 as the first Islamic prayer center established in the Czech Republic. This opening gave the Muslim community in the Moravian region its own dedicated place of worship.
The Islamic Foundation in Brno runs the mosque, which serves mainly as a cultural centre; guided tours of the building are offered. During Islamic holidays, police allow worshippers to park on Vídeňská street in front of the entrance.
The site is easily accessible and located in a residential area of Brno. Visitors should contact the administration beforehand to arrange visits and learn about prayer times.
The building is slightly rotated from the surrounding street grid so that it faces Mecca. The city also required that it have no minaret or dome and not stand out from neighbouring buildings.
