Jesenice is a municipality in Prague-West District in the Czech Republic that combines several villages including Horní Jirčany, Osnice, and Zdiměřice. The area lies on gently rolling terrain on the western outskirts of the Prague region.
Jesenice first appears in written records from 1088, showing its presence in the Czech lands for nearly a thousand years. Over the centuries, it grew from a small settlement into a residential community of regional importance.
The Baroque memorial to Maxmiliána Alsterová marks where the first recorded traffic accident in Czech lands took place in 1706. This monument stands as an unusual reminder of early mobility challenges in the region.
