Ostrava Zoo

Ostrava Zoo is a facility spread across about 100 hectares with animals from many different parts of the world. It houses several thousand animals of different species in various enclosures and exhibits throughout the grounds.

The zoo was founded in 1951 and originally opened in a different district. Over the following years, the entire collection was moved to its present location in Stromovka Park.

The zoo runs educational programs where visitors can learn about wildlife and nature through interactive exhibits and demonstrations. These activities help families understand how animals live and interact in different environments.

The best time to visit is in the morning when animals are more active and crowds are smaller. Comfortable shoes and plenty of time are important since the grounds are quite large.

The zoo has a special exhibit combining water and land animals that takes up a large area and surprises visitors with its scale. This display shows how different species coexist in their natural environments.
