Prague 4 is an administrative district covering approximately 24.19 square kilometers on the southern side of the capital, encompassing residential neighborhoods such as Braník, Krč, Podolí, Michle, and Záběhlice.
The district was officially established as a municipal administrative unit on July 1, 1973, following decades of urban expansion that transformed former rural villages into developed residential areas during the 20th century.
The district office organizes the annual Kaleidoskop multicultural festival in Pankrác central park, bringing together residents from diverse backgrounds to celebrate community integration through music, food, and cultural presentations.
The district office at Antala Staška 2059/80b provides registration services, social security assistance, and free Czech language courses for children and adults at Poláčkova and Bítovská primary schools.
Prague 4 hosts the headquarters of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic and serves as home to campuses of the Prague British International School in Kamýk and Libuš neighborhoods.
