Žďár, Mountain summit in Brdská vrchovina, Czech Republic.
Žďár is a mountain summit in Brdská vrchovina reaching 630 meters in elevation. The peak features rocky formations and stepped terraces along its northern slopes, which create its distinctive shape.
The summit shows evidence of human settlements from the late Bronze Age through the Hallstatt period into the first millennium BC. These archaeological finds reveal that the peak attracted settlement activity throughout ancient times.
The mountain forms part of the Trhoň nature park, where local residents participate in outdoor activities throughout the different seasons of the year.
Two marked hiking trails cross the summit and connect different villages to one another. Red trail markers link Rokycany to Holoubkov, while yellow markings show the path from Svojkovice to Dobřív.
The slopes display frost weathering formations including frost ribs, rock walls, towers, and boulder fields made of quartzite conglomerate. These geological features form through repeated freezing and thawing cycles and shape the landscape in striking ways.
