Film School in Písek, Film academy in Písek, Czech Republic
The Film Academy of Miroslav Ondrick offers bachelor and master degrees in film studies with specialized departments focused on directing, cinematography, and production. Teaching occurs in both Czech and English languages for students from the Czech Republic and abroad.
The academy was established in 2004, growing from a private film higher vocational school that had been founded in 1996 by educators Vladana and Milon Tercha. This foundation shaped the institution into what it is today.
Students here work on real film projects throughout their studies, with their productions regularly competing and winning awards at festivals around the world.
The academy is located in Pisek and welcomes both Czech and international students, with instruction available in two languages. Visitors should note this is primarily a working educational facility with ongoing student productions and classes.
A student film from the school called Krajan, directed by Pavel Sykora and Viktor Horak, received student Oscar recognition in 2024. This achievement shows the level of craft being developed by those studying there.
