Arboretum Křtiny, University arboretum in South Moravian Region, Czech Republic.
Arboretum Křtiny is a tree collection spread across about 23 hectares with over 800 species arranged along walking paths and educational trails. The grounds include sections dedicated to different plant regions and ecosystems, making it easy to explore on foot.
The site was established in 1928 by Professor August Bayer as a research and teaching facility for Mendel University in Brno. Since its founding, it has grown into the country's leading university arboretum.
The site features a Wish Tree where visitors attach written hopes to branches, creating a quiet ritual of personal reflection within the natural setting. This practice shows how the space becomes a place for people to express their feelings and desires.
The grounds are open from May through October and offer guided tours for groups that need advance notice before arrival. Leashed pets are welcome, and multiple paths allow you to explore the site at your own pace.
A special route called Path Around the World brings together trees and plants from different continents in one place. This lets visitors experience botanical diversity from around the globe without traveling far.
