Windsor, Cultural monument and windmill ruins in Siřejovice, Czech Republic
Windsor is a former windmill and residence in Siřejovice now standing as ruins and displaying traditional Czech architecture. The structure consists of a tower building with integrated milling machinery that used wind power to process grain.
The structure was built as a milling complex and served the rural community for many generations by processing grain. Operations ceased in 2019, ending a long history of agricultural work.
The building merges living quarters and milling operations in one structure, showing how millers and their families once lived and worked together. This blend of daily life and production remains visible in what remains today.
The site is accessible via marked paths through the countryside with parking available nearby for visitors. Informational panels on-site explain how the milling machinery originally functioned.
The mill received its name Windsor from an earlier English connection or inspiration, which is uncommon in Czech milling architecture. This naming reference can be traced in regional historical records.
