Brandýs nad Labem, Administrative district in Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, Czech Republic
Brandýs nad Labem is a cadastral area and municipal part of the twin town of Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, located in the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic along the Elbe River. It forms the western half of that administrative unit, sitting on the left bank directly across from Stará Boleslav.
The town received its municipal charter in the 14th century and grew into a regional center on the Elbe. Its boundaries as a distinct cadastral unit were formally defined in the 19th century, giving it its current administrative shape.
Brandýs nad Labem sits on the left bank of the Elbe, where older streets meet newer housing areas in a natural transition. Walking through the town gives a clear sense of how people here organize daily life around the river and the central square.
The area is easy to reach by local roads and compact enough to explore on foot in a single outing. Paths along the Elbe are accessible year-round and offer a natural way to move between the main points of interest.
The castle in this part of the twin town served as a favored retreat for the Habsburg dynasty, who used it regularly as a hunting residence over several centuries. Traces of that royal connection are still visible in the buildings around the castle grounds today.
