Castle Krašov, Gothic castle ruins in Bohy, Czech Republic.
Castle Krašov is a Gothic ruin in Bohy that rises on a rocky ridge above the Berounka River, showing defensive walls and the remains of a two-story palace. The site preserves the layout of fortifications and living quarters that once filled this hilltop settlement.
Founded in 1232 by Jetřích of the Hroznatovec family, the castle received its Gothic shape in the 13th century. Renaissance modifications in the 16th century added new elements to its appearance.
The Chapel of St. Ludmila shaped spiritual life here, while traces of a brewery, malt house, smithy, and mill reveal how people worked and lived within these walls. These structures show how castle and surrounding community depended on each other.
The site is managed by the Association for the Rescue of Krašov and provides accommodation for visitors exploring the surrounding region. The location is best reached on foot and offers views over the valley below.
The site was the center of a medieval boundary dispute with nearby Libštejn ruins over a contested farm between their territories. This conflict shows how complicated land ownership was in the region during that time.
