Rokole, Religious sanctuary in Bohdašín, Czech Republic
Rokole is a sanctuary in Bohdašín comprised of several structures built over different periods. A brick chapel, a church constructed in 1930, and a wooden Loreta structure combine to form the site, with the latter displaying folk art images of the Virgin Mary.
The original wooden chapel was replaced by a brick structure in 1859, marking the beginning of its formal religious establishment. In 1997, the first Schönstatt shrine in the Czech Republic was consecrated at the site as a replica of the German original.
The sanctuary draws visitors who seek a place for prayer and reflection, particularly those devoted to the Virgin Mary. The wooden chapel with its folk art paintings serves as a focal point for personal devotion and spiritual practice.
The site sits at an elevation of about 525 meters and can be reached by following marked trails. It is best visited during daylight hours when visibility is good and paths are clearly visible.
The site contains a spring that, according to local tradition, emerged where the Virgin Mary guided a lost girl from the forest. This local account connects the sanctuary to an event of wonder that remains meaningful for many who visit.
