Buškův hamr

Buškův hamr is a hammer mill in Trhové Sviny powered by three water wheels that drive different machines simultaneously. The facility uses a water cascade system to supply the grinder, hammer, and blowers all at once.

The mill was established in 1780 at a location where a bone meal mill had previously operated. It continued working steadily until 1948, when the owner stopped due to health reasons.

This place shows traditional metalworking methods that were passed down through generations and remain visible in its tools and setup. Visitors can observe how craftspeople worked with metal and understand the skills required for this trade.

The location sits about 1 kilometer southwest of Trhové Sviny and is reachable by foot or vehicle from outside. Check opening hours before visiting, and bring cash since card payments are not accepted here.

The facility houses the largest oak hammer in the Czech Republic, weighing over 300 kilograms and delivering powerful blows. This massive hammer demonstrates the impressive force that water power could provide to the metalworking process.
