Čakovice Castle, Renaissance château in Čakovice district, Czech Republic

Čakovice Castle stands at Cukrovarská 23 in Prague-Čakovice, next to the buildings of the Čakovice sugar factory. The château, rebuilt in the classical style for Alexandr Schoeller after 1849, faces an English park that also served as an orchard.

The site began as a fortress, badly damaged in the Thirty Years' War. Antonie of Klebelsberg had it rebuilt as a château between 1773 and 1785; in 1849 Viennese industrialist Alexandr Schoeller bought it and had it redone in Neoclassical style, also building the adjoining sugar factory.

Since 1974 the castle has housed the Marie Podvalová Elementary Art School, named after the opera singer born in Čakovice. The building's name comes from the village, first recorded as a fortress before its 1773–1785 conversion into a château.
