Batelov Castle

Batelov Castle is a dual-part complex near the village of Batelov, with a newer structure featuring Neoclassical lines and an older section from the late 16th century. The ensemble displays symmetrical design and characteristic architectural details typical of its period.

The Batelov area was settled in the early 13th century, and the locality developed from these early foundations. The older section of the complex dates to the late Renaissance period, while the newer Neoclassical structure was added later.

The castle takes its name from the village of Batelov and stands as a reminder of how the region values its architectural heritage. Locals and visitors see it as part of the area's identity and its connection to past generations.

The castle is located in the southwestern part of the region and is reachable via rail lines that connect the village to larger towns. Since it is no longer in active use, visitors should check in advance what parts of the site are accessible.

The castle brings together two completely different architectural periods under one name, with each section showing distinct building styles and construction methods. This combination makes it a rare example of how Bohemian castle complexes developed in layers across centuries.
