The Basilica of Mary Helper of Christians is a church with two prominent front towers built in 19th-century Romanesque Revival style, displaying the characteristic design of that architectural period. Inside, the space features a single nave with a semicircular apse at the eastern end, creating a straightforward layout typical of smaller basilicas.

The basilica developed following a reported Marian apparition in 1866, with construction of a chapel beginning in 1870 and the larger building completed by 1885. This growth reflects how the pilgrimage tradition became established in the region over two decades.

The basilica stands as a focal point for devotion to Mary and draws pilgrims who come seeking her intercession on significant religious occasions. Its name reflects the local tradition of viewing Mary as a protector and helper for Christian believers.

The basilica welcomes visitors on Sundays and on the 13th of each month when services take place, though it is best to notify the Jiříkov parish office beforehand to confirm access. This simple step ensures you can view the interior without unexpected closures.

Inside, visitors can see an 1888 organ built by the skilled craftsman Hermann Eule, featuring 22 registers that fill the space with sound during services. The basilica also preserves wooden flooring from the home of Magdalena Kade, the person who reported the original vision.
