V pískovně is a nature reserve in Dolní Počernice and Hostavice that centers on a water-filled former sand quarry. The body of water sits surrounded by woodland and provides habitat for many bird species that visitors can watch throughout the seasons.

The area became protected in 1988 when a former sand quarry site was designated as a conservation space for wildlife. This industrial location transformed into a place dedicated to nature protection and bird watching.

The name V pískovně means "in the sandpit", recalling sand extraction that ran here from the late 19th century until the early 1960s. The flooded pit is now left to develop on its own and is used for sport fishing, hunting and recreation, while fishing in the reserve pond itself is banned. The Martiňák pond, part of the protected zone, allows fly fishing from mid-June to the end of November.

The best spots for watching birds are along the waterside, where you have clear views across the water. Move slowly and quietly when visiting to avoid disturbing the birds.

The kingfisher (ledňáček říční) is one of six specially protected species recorded here, but its nesting sites were damaged when a garden colony expanded. The same expansion also harmed the penduline tit's nesting grounds. The flooded sandpit is left to develop on its own, and fishing is banned within the reserve, while angling is permitted only in the Martiňák pond.
