Pavlino údolí, Nature reserve in Jetřichovice, Czech Republic.
Pavlino údolí is a nature reserve defined by deep sandstone cliffs and dense woodland stretching through the landscape. The valley forms a distinctive corridor shaped by rock formations and the flow of the Chřibská Kamenice river.
The reserve was established in the mid-19th century when conservation efforts began to protect the valley. The construction of hiking paths in the 1880s marked the beginning of organized tourism while strengthening protection of the area.
The valley takes its name from the Slavic water nymph Rusalka, rooted in local mythology and folklore. Visitors can see how these stories are woven into the landscape through the named rock formations and caves.
Access is available through marked red hiking trails connecting Jetřichovice and Studený villages. The best time to explore is spring and autumn when trails are dry and the landscape is most visible.
The area is home to rare animals including black storks and river otters that inhabit the rocky banks. Visitors rarely spot them, but quiet walks along the water often reveal signs of their presence.
