Černovický hájek, Nature reserve in Brněnské Ivanovice, Czech Republic.
Černovický hájek is a swampy forest near Brněnské Ivanovice dominated by black alder trees and wetland plants in the foothills around Brno. The reserve occupies a compact wooded area situated at low elevation close to the city.
Official protection was granted in 1977 to safeguard one of the region's remaining floodplain forest remnants along the Svratka river basin. This action marked the conservation of a rapidly disappearing woodland type.
The reserve functions as an educational site where visitors learn about local ecosystems through established nature trails and observation points.
The area can be reached from Vinohradská street near the sand extraction site, with additional access points from Kaštanová street by the shopping area. Visitors should be prepared for wet conditions, especially in transitional zones between forest and water features.
The forest harbors rare water voles and moorhens that arrived from outside the region as part of habitat restoration efforts. These creatures represent a deliberate attempt to rebuild the area's natural diversity.
