The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary exhibits classical baroque architecture elements with a grand facade and detailed ornamentation throughout its structure.
Between 1742 and 1758, the church underwent reconstruction following severe damage from shelling, leading to modifications by architects T. Haffeanecker and A. Lurago.
Silesian painter Vilém Neuenherz created interior frescoes in 1743, depicting narratives from the life of St. Norbert and the Virgin Mary.
The church maintains regular Roman Catholic masses and operates as an active religious center within the Ostrava-City District of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed an improvisation on the original church organ during his visit in 1787, marking a notable musical moment in its history.
