Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a baroque building in Třebovice with an ornately designed facade and richly decorated interior spaces. The church interior features classical baroque characteristics, including curved architectural lines, decorative details, and artistic wall paintings.

The building was substantially reconstructed in the 1740s following severe wartime damage, with architects T. Haffeanecker and A. Lurago overseeing the work. The renovation lasted about 15 years and gave it the form visitors see today.

The interior was decorated by painter Vilém Neuenherz, who created frescoes in 1743 depicting scenes from the lives of Saint Norbert and Mary. These artworks remain visible throughout the church today and tell religious stories across its walls.

The site functions as an active parish church with regular Catholic services and welcomes visitors. It is best to check opening times beforehand and be respectful of services if visiting during scheduled worship times.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed at the church organ during a visit in 1787 and improvised a musical piece. This appearance remains a remarkable moment in the site's musical history.
