Castle Hradiště

Castle Hradiště is a Gothic Revival castle in Hradiště featuring pointed arches, steep roofs, and decorative stonework across its exterior. The building displays the distinctive features of this architectural style on its walls and towers.

The castle was built in 1545 on the site of an earlier fortress and served as an important structure for the region. In later centuries, it was redesigned with Gothic Revival features that shape its appearance today.

The castle now houses the Museum of Southern Pilsen Region, where you can see exhibitions about regional traditions and local crafts displayed throughout its rooms. The displays show how people in this area lived and worked across different periods.

The castle is easily reached on foot after arriving at Blovice train station by regional train. From there, a short walk through the town center takes you to the castle in about 15 minutes.

The castle chapel contains original fixtures from different periods that offer rare insights into interior design across the centuries. These details are often overlooked but reveal how the building was used and adapted over time.
