Boheminium, Miniature park in Mariánské Lázně, Czech Republic
Boheminium is a miniature park on the eastern edge of Mariánské Lázně, at 750 m elevation about 1 km from the centre near the Krakonoš hotel. Its 6-hectare grounds hold over 90 models of Czech castles, chateaux and lookout towers, the first being Jan Stehlík's 1:25 model of Červená Lhota. A cable car leads to the site.
The park was established in 1999 and has grown into one of Europe's larger miniature parks. It has since become a popular attraction in the Karlovy Vary region.
Models are made in the park's own modelling workshop in Mariánské Lázně, which has about twenty years of practice; since 2011 inmates of Horní Slavkov prison have helped produce parts and whole miniatures under authorial guidance. Each miniature carries information panels in Czech and three other languages. About 70% of visitors are Czechs.
The park lies about 1 km from the centre of Mariánské Lázně at 750 m elevation, reachable by cable car and near the terminus of local bus lines. Walking paths total 2.8 km and a visit takes 2–3 hours; it has been open year-round from 10:00, until 19:00 during holidays.
Since 2011, inmates at Horní Slavkov prison have helped build the models, preparing components or assembling whole miniatures under authorial supervision. The park's modelling workshop in Mariánské Lázně has over twenty years of practice. Models of Prague Castle and the Powder Tower are under construction.
