Veselý vrch, Mountain summit in Central Bohemia, Czech Republic
Veselý vrch is a summit near Mokrsko with a 42-meter tower topped by an observation platform positioned at its 489-meter peak. The tower structure is visible from surrounding areas and provides a focal point on the horizon.
In the 1990s the area escaped plans for cyanide-based gold mining operations that would have transformed it significantly. The rejection of these extraction methods allowed the site to remain undisturbed.
The tower's inauguration in July 1999 featured Czech cyclist Josef Dressler performing a remarkable stair climb on his bicycle with entertainer Václav Krejčí.
Access to the observation platform is reached by climbing 137 steps, so visitors should be prepared for the stairs. Opening times vary by season, with different hours depending on when you visit.
The mountain sits above an estimated 80 tons of gold deposits buried underground, making it a notable geological location. These mineral reserves remain untouched because mining operations never occurred here.
